Mukesh Chand Mathur (Hindi: मुकेश चन्द माथुर) (22 July 1923 27 August 1976) was an Indian playback singer of Bollywood. Along with Mohammad Rafi, Manna Dey, Kishore Kumar, he dominated Indian film playback music from the 1950s to the 1970s.
Mukesh's voice was noticed by Motilal (a popular actor in Hindi films, also a distant relative of Mukesh) when he sang at his sister's wedding. Motilal took him to Bombay, let him stay with him and even arranged for singing lessons by pandit jagannath prasad for him. During this period, Mukesh managed to bag a role in a Hindi film, Nirdosh (Innocent) (1941). His first song was dil hi bujha hua ho to as an actor singer for Nirdosh. He got his break as a playback singer for Actor Motilal himself in 1945 with the film Pehli Nazar'music by Anil Biswas & Lyrics by Aah Sitapuri' (First Look). The first song he sang for a Hindi film was Dil Jalta Hai to Jalne De (If the heart burns, let it burn), which was incidentally picturised on Motilal.
Mukesh died of a heart attack on 27 August 1976 in Detroit, Michigan, USA, where he had gone for a concert. His body was carried back to India by Lata Mangeshkar, where a grand funeral ceremony took place as many famous actors, personalities of the Indian film industry, and fans paid tribute to the late singer. When the news of his death reached Raj Kapoor, he remarked, "I have lost my voice," which is a testimony to the timeless and unforgettable association of Mukesh's voice (in playback) to the immensely popular songs of Raj Kapoor's films.

"Andaz" (Hindi: अन्दाज़, Persian, Urdu: اَنداز) is a 1971 Hindi romantic movie starring Shammi Kapoor, Hema Malini, Rajesh Khanna, Simi Garewal, Aruna Irani and Achala Sachdev. The film was directed by Ramesh Sippy.
Andaz was one of the last movies for which the great music directors duo, Shankar- Jaikishan composed music together. Jaikishan died of cirrhosis of the liver on September 12, 1971 at the young age of 42. Coincidentally, one of the most popular songs from this film - Zindagi Ek Safar Hai Suhana, Yahaan Kal Kya Ho Kisne Jaana ( Life is a beautiful journey, One never knows what's going to happen tomorrow) turned out to be the last song that Jaikishan recorded before his untimely death.
Andaz also proved to be the last hit for Shammi Kapoor as a lead hero. Even the success of this movie is credited to the Rajesh Khanna Mania of the 70's, as Rajesh Khanna only appeared for five minutes in the movie, and still created a stir. However, Shammi Kapoors performance was well received and it has been one of his most uncharacteristic roles of his career.....
Mohammed Rafi (Hindi: मोहम्मद रफ़ी, Urdu: محمد رفیع; December 24, 1924 July 31, 1980), often addressed as Rafi Sahib, was an Indian playback singer whose career spanned four decades and is one of the most versatile male singers in the history of Indian cinema. Rafi sang in many Indian languages including Hindi, Urdu, Bhojpuri, Punjabi, Bengali, Marathi, Sindhi, Kannada and Telugu. He also recorded English and Persian songs. He is primarily remembered, however, for his Hindi songs, which still remain very popular in India today and also among the Indian diaspora. He dominated the Bollywood music industry from the 1950s to the 1970s along with Mukesh, Manna Dey, and Kishore Kumar.
Between 1950 and 1970, Rafi was one of the most sought after singers in Bollywood.
In 1965, he was honoured by the Government of India with the Padma Sri award.
Awards; * 2001 - Rafi was honored with the "best singer of the millennium" by Hero Honda and Stardust magazine in Mumbai on Jan 7, 2001.
Government Awards; * 15Th Aug 1947 - Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru given hug after his song * 1948 - Rafi received a silver medal from the Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, on the first anniversary of the Indian Independence Day. * 1965 - he was honoured with the Padmashri by the Government of India.
National Film Awards; * 1968 - National Award for Best Male Playback Singer for Neel Kamal composed by Ravi Shankar. * 1977 - National Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer for "Kya Hua Tera Wada" song in the film Hum Kisi Se Kum Nahin), composed by RD Burman, lyrics by Majrooh Sultanpuri.
Filmfare Awards; * 1960 - Filmfare Best Male Playback Award for "Chaudhvin Ka Chand Ho" in the film Chaudhvin Ka Chand * ....................
Bengal Film Journalists' Association Awards; * 1965 - Best Male Playback Singer for Dosti[27] * 1966 - Best Male Playback Singer for Arzoo.........

Despite this, Bhosle is the most frequent winner of this award to date, tying with Alka Yagnik. She was later given a Special Award for Rangeela in 1996, and the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 2001. Following is the list of her Filmfare Awards: * 1968: "Garibon ki Suno" (Dus Lakh, 1966) * 1969: "Parde Mein Rehne Do" (Shikar, 1968) * 1972: "Piya Tu Ab To Aaja" (Caravan, 1971) * 1973: "Dum Maro Dum" (Hare Rama Hare Krishna, 1972) * 1974: "Hone Lagi Hain Raat" (Naina, 1973) * 1975: "Chain Se Humko Kabhi" (Pran Jaye Par Vachan Na Jaye, 1974) * 1979: "Yeh Mera Dil" (Don, 1978)

Jab bhi yeh dil udas hota hai - 1971 film Seema. Singers: Mohammed Rafi, Sharda. Lyrics by Gulzar. Music by Shankar-Jaikishan. Stars: Rakesh Roshan, Kabir Bedi, Simi Garewal, Padma Khanna, Chand Usmani. Director: Surendra Mohan. Another film with the same or similar name was made in 1955. There would be no film songs or ghazals, singers or even screenplays and superstars without lyricists and writers. Why not give full due credit to the poor lyricists first, and also to the comparatively super-rich music composers, producers and directors? The legendary singer Mohammed Rafi (1924-1980) still continues to entertain millions around the world. Surely, he justly and rightly deserves more honours for his selfless contributions to the Bollywood film and entertainment industry. Under-rated, under-paid Mohammed Rafi was honoured with the "best singer of the millennium" by Hero Honda and Stardust magazine in Mumbai on 07 January 2001, over twenty years after Rafi passed away in July 1980. "It was Mohammed Rafi sahib's humility which made him such a great singer. This is evident in his songs which he sang from the heart. He thought of the music, and doing a good job. He did not think of the money or furthering his career. His personality and attitude showed in his voice which was like divine nectar. God created him to sing...," according to Shakil. Eros video.

Kabhi to hansaaye kabhi ye rulaaye
Zindagi...
Kabhi dekho man nahi jaage peechhe peechhe sapno ke bhaage

Zindagi...
Jinhone sajaaye yaha mele sukh-dukh sang-sang jhele
Wahi chunkar khaamoshi yu chali jaaye akele kaha
Zindagi...
