Joel Levi Feveck aka Zan, is a multi talented young man, well recognized in the music fraternity for his songwriting skills and vocal ability to perform in various genres. Growing up in the twin island of Trinidad and Tobago his love for music grew from childhood. He was groomed as a young boy in voice training by his mother and so from a very early age the foundation of his talent was well nurtured.
In 1998, at the age of 16 his career started in the music group "Relativity". Their appearances ranged from concerts and model shows to other types of ceremonies, where they performed the national anthem, ballads, calypsos, and such. After graduating high school in 2000, Zan moved on in search of new opportunities. The group "Fusion," was formed with childhood friend Keron Boodoosingh. Out of this came the comical tune "Doubles," which was a well received collaboration by the two. In the words of the artist, "this was an effort to expand my range and give vent to my natural expression."
As a songwriter, his talent speaks for itself and will continue to do so. His joy and pleasure stems from his ability to capture in song, the soul of life and on the other hand the satire of everyday trials and tribulations. This is exhibited in his writings of groovy soca, ballads and the undefined. This songwriter has composed:"Can't Wait" sang by H2O Flow, "Energy" sang by Tony Prescott & Surface, "Love Somebody" and "Wine and Bend Over" sung by Destra and Shal respectively. These songs have helped the artist travel through the shallow waters in his life, to deeper waters where the sharks and icons swim.
Beyond the shores of Trinidad Zan recorded Hard to Say Goodbye with French artiste Flow Fiji in early 2001. He hoped to continue to add many more knots like this onto his belt in this life. The popular song "Same Band," produced by Chasau and written in collaboration with Shal Marshall, was yet another such knot on his belt. Committed to making his mark in the industry, Zan continued to demonstrate his talent. In 2005, the hit song "Watching Woman" produced by Chinese Laundry was a hit track on the number 1 radio station's Soca Switch. This song was a true illustration of Zan as the man on the street who loves to watch the legs of women as they walk by. One could say like many Scorpio men, this artist enjoys the art of understanding and knowing a woman!
Zan's journey in music started in his primary days and has followed him to adulthood. This gave him the inspiration to write "Heart of a Man" which he did in collaboration with the most internationally known soca artist Machel Montano. His peers were not surprised when he followed up by writing "Always Be" commonly known as "Have You Ever Been in Love. This was produced as a duet, which he sang alongside Patrice Roberts, and was the beginning of a growing friendship with the talented vocalist.
Other recognized accomplishments for the artist include the winning of Pan Song of the year for 2006 "Colors Again" and the second place winner in the Groovy Soca Monarch competition with his collaboration song "Always Be" sang as a duet with Patrice Roberts. The year 2006 was a phenomenal one in his life it heightened his personal satisfaction and public recognition.
Life's path has brought him to 2007, where he has since recorded and written "Till Tomorrow (Hold Me Close)" with Patrice Roberts and "All We Need" as another solo rendition. The artist feels blessed to have been awarded the opportunity to travel the world with Machel Montano and Xtatik. From the sold out shows in Madison Square Garden (New York) to the World Cup in Germany, his dream to be versed in world cultures and identities in an attempt to expand his writing experiences, was further realized on completion of his European World Tour. His mind, body, and soul were well exposed, and with Zan's positive reception, we await to see its impact on our musical culture.

Sizwe C Sweet Like Honey Bee A showstopper from the beginning! His father was a local DJ and bandleader, his mother; a party queen. Sizwe was born in a community of partygoers and Soca lovers. His dad would place him by the speakers, as he would practice his mixing skills for the next basement party. He would also have to endure the hours of Dimanche Gras, Kings and Queens, Panorama, and of course Soca Monarch. Sizwe says he was about six years old when he saw Machel Montano perform Too Young To Soca and decided then that singing soca was what he was going to do Sizwe C has been singing for seven years. First as a solo artist but then joining a reggae group called Crucial. The groups members have all gone their way, doing things on their own accord. In 2007 Sizwe C released his first single Rock Yah Boat. That single catapulted Sizwe to another level in the business, making him highly visible as a contender. As of late, Sizwe is working hard, pushing his brand new single Wine on You (Can You Feel It). It is a groovy Soca track with a dash of R&B, Hip-Hop, Soca and plenty pepper. Sizwe is also a promoter and heavy endorser of Soca. Other genres have huge events and so can we Soca is a contender in the world of music and we have to start believing in it, says Sizwe. He co-hosts a radio show with Dr. Esan SOCA BASHMENT in Miami on Riddims 94.5 Fm www.riddims945.com every Friday from 7-9pm. If you want to hear Soca, keep it locked! Lord Kitchener ("Kitch"), the Grandmaster, was born April 18, 1922, as Aldwyn Robertsin Arima, Trinidad and Tobago ("T&T;"), into a family of six. His father was a succes sful blacksmith in Arima. Kitch attended the Arima Boys Gov't School between the ages of 5 and 14, when he was forced to leave school following the death of his parents. He started composing calypsoes at the tender age of 10, and also learnt to play the guitar. As a young man, Kitch was so thin and tall, 6 ft. 2 ins., that his sister nicknamed him "Bean." (Remember Jack and the Beanstalk?).
His first job as a singer was in 1936, when he was hired to serenade the employees of the Water Works. He got his first break in 1937 while he was performing in an old time bamboo calypso tent in Arima. In 1938, he ventured into the realm of big time calypso, and in 1939 he produced a hit called "Shops Close Too Early". In 1942, he joined the Roving Brigade, a traveling group of young calypsonians who appeared at cinema houses in different districts in T&T. Kitch was making one of these appearances when Johnny Khan, the manager of a calypso tent, spotted him and recruited Kitch for his first professional tent appearance. He appeared at the Victory Calypso Tent on Edward Street with some of the great calypsonians of the day, such as Tiger, Roaring Lion, Atilla the Hun, Destroyer, Pretender, Caressa and Iere. His song then was *Green Fig*. It became a hit. In those days, Kitch was paid a dollar per night. Kitch has been a major force in the world of calypso since then, destroying all challengers year after year with his incredible wit, humor, and lasting melody.
In 1938, Kitch won the first prize in a calypso competition organized by the Arima Borough Council. He held the title until 1942. At the outbreak of World War II, Carnival in T&T; was stopped until 1944 but the calypso tents were kept opened. It was around 1944 that a friend, Alric Farrell, better known as Pretender, reportedly persuaded Kitch to turn professional and join the great calypsonians of those days --- Beginner, Destroyer, Growling Tiger, Attilla the Hun, Executor, Invader, Growler, and Roaring Lion --- in Port of Spain. Apparently, Kitch followed Pretender's advice. He came to Port of Spain, and sang a calypso he called "Mary, I am Tired and Disgusted," before the critical and exacting calypso lovers of Port of Spain. That calypso took Port of Spain by storm. Realizing the talent of the young calypsonian, The Growling Tiger christened the "Bean" "Lord Kitchener." In 1945, Kitch scored again in Port of Spain with "I am a Worrier."
However, it was not until 1946 that he had his first big success. He had a hat trick consisting of "Tie Tongue Mopsy," "Chinese Never Had a VJ Day," and "Jump In the Line." By then, he had achieved enough stature as a calypsonian to open his own tent. The first full year of the tent was 1947. Kitch called it the "Young Brigade." Some of the calypsonians in the tent were Lord Zigfield, Melody, Mighty Killer, Sir Galba, Spoiler, and Viking. Their only competition was another tent, organized by the Roaring Lion and Attilla, staffed with some of the Calypso giants of those days. This is how Kitchener remembered the opening night:

Fay-Ann triumphs at Soca Monarch
Fay-Ann Lyons-Alvarez made history on Friday night at the National Stadium as she became the first woman to win the Soca Monarch, Groovy Soca Monarch and the bmobile Peoples Choice.
Singing in position No 7 in the Groovy Soca Monarch competition, Lyons-Alvarez danced onto the stage dressed as a Dame Lorraine to render her popular Heavy T Bumper and just worked the song.
During the performance she brought on contestants from the Miss Big and Beautiful Competition as well as the renowned Calypso Rose.
The crowd was moved. She paid special respect to the queen of calypso by inviting the entire crowd at the Hasely Crawford Stadium to sing to Rose before commanding them to wine their bumpers. Rose took full advantage of that and sent the crowd wild. It was an impregnable performance.
In the Power Soca Monarch Lyons-Alvarez, dressed in black and blue, belted out her song Meet Superblue as she again paid tribute, this time to her father, Austin Superblue Lyons who danced around on the stage next to his daughter, hugging and kissing her as she performed.
She then sent the crowd in a frenzy when she introduced them to her baby by putting the microphone to her belly and a child-like voice singing a verse to her song was heard.
After that, it was quite clear that she had the support of everyone in the venue as they chanted Fay-Ann, Fay-Ann in unison for over five minutes, demanding an encore.
Defending champion Bunji Garlin, who placed second, showed support for his wife when he told the audience during his performance he was only there to have fun and to ensure that Iwer George placed third as his wife was already the winner of the night.
Iwer George who came out in a red suit finished off with a red bow tie, performed his song Ready with a stunning stage presentation complete with dancers and large costumes, earning him third place in the competition. Rain threatened to interrupt the show during the Power Soca Monarch segment of the competition but it did not stop Blaxx from giving his all as he performed Tusty and captured fourth place.
Last years Groovy Soca Monarch winner, Shurwayne Winchester placed second in that category with his powerful performance of his song Make it Yours with the help of international reggae artiste Maxi Priest.
Also impressing the large crowd and the judges was Benjai, who sang Drunk Again without any large stage presentation.
He came in third in the Groovy Soca Monarch followed by fourth placed Zoelah from St Vincent who sang Wine Up on Me with the help of sexy male dancers, much to the delight of the female audience.
Hunter, who performed his big hit Jep Sting sent the crowd wild when he introduced his fellow artistes, Anil Bheem, Drupatee and Ravi B to sing with him.
Earlier, the show once again started an hour late despite the assurances that things would be different this year. The promised 1 am finish time never came true as the show continued until after 3 am in the morning.

Trinidad soca artist Machel Montano - Tell me - is one of the latest soca music .
Born in Carenage (North Trinidad), his family moved to Siparia, South Trinidad when he was very young. Machel attended Siparia Boys' R.C., then Presentation College, San Fernando, a prestigious secondary school in San Fernando, South Trinidad where he was in the choir led by Mrs. Cynthia Lee-Mack. Machel first shot to fame as a young boy with the song "Too Young To Soca" while he was still in primary school. In 1984 along with his brother and neighbours the group Pranasonic Express was started and in 1989, the band became Xtatik.
The band developed and was re-invented by its leader Montano several times as Xtatik 5.0, The Xtatik Circus, Xtatik The Road Marching Band, The Band of the Year and many others. Every year Machel has a new concept to keep his band and his performances fresh. From 2007 they are known as Machel Montano HD (High Definition) and he promotes the concept by saying that he is the first human being to go HD. He claims this is a representation of the evolution of his music over the last 25 years and highly improved style in which his music shall be presented to his fans over radio formats, television, and during live performances. He is part of a campaign in Trinidad and Tobago to promoting safe driving - "Arrive Alive". Part of the hype surrounding Montano since 2007 is his HD tour bus, a 20 year old bus from the Public Transport Service Corporation (PTSC) which was re-done and includes a bedroom, bathroom facilities, flat screen TVs, Internet access and expansive audio systems. After the bus' debut in 2007, it was re-painted for 2008, the new images of Machel matching various photos of him from the album artwork of his 2008 CD, Flame on. The bus featured heavily in his videos for "Jumbie" - 2007 and "Rollin/Blazin d Trail" - 2008.

Raymond Ramnarine from Trinidad
Destra Garcia from Trinidad
Raymond started his music career at the tender age of 9 years. His love for Indian music has grown tremendously, ever since the early days of Dil-E-Nadaan. In 1985 and 1988 he toured Canada with Dil-E-Nadaan. In 1989 he composed the test-piece "Dostaana" for Saaj Sammelan. Raymond started his 'singing' career then and won the Nationwide Duet Singing Competition together with Saraswatie Maharaj.
In 1991 he toured Jamaica and entered Mastana Bahar and attained 1st place in the Preliminaries and Semi Finals, and 2dn place in the Gtand Final. Also appeared that year at the Indian Cultural Pageant to serenade the queens.
.................................................................................................Destra Garcia was born on November of 1977 in Trinidad and Tobago, she hails from a musical family.
Destra has been singing since she was in St.James Secondary School. "I sang every year for five years at school and won the Calypso Monarch on every occasion. I also wrote all my calypsoes." Destra Garcia
At the age of eighteen Destra hooked up with a producer at Caribbean Sound Basin and formed the four member group called PSYKE which focused mostly on singing R & B. The group only lasted for one year.
At one point, Destra decided that she must not depend on singing to earn her living. With this in mind she decided to continue with her education. She attended the School of Business and Management where she earned her diploma in Selling and Sales Managements. Destra armed with her degree would begin working in the business field. But Destra came to find out that she was not cut out for the business field and decided to return to singing.
Through it all Destra kept on singing for the love of the music. In 1999 things eventually paid off when Destra sang "Ah Have A Man Already" with Third Base. It just so happen that this was when Ms. Garica was discovered by Roy Cape. Destra went on to become the lead female singer for the Roy Cape All Stars.
She made her official debut in back in 2000 at Iwer George's "Property" party. Since then Destra has been doing what she enjoys most of all singing and performing for the people. Today, Destra is the lead female vocalist with the legendary band Atlantik.
In 2003, carnival in Trinidad and Tobago, Destra came in second place in Road March Competition with the major hit song "Carnival" ft. Machel Montano. Some of Destra's follow-up hit songs are "Whey you want", "Boodie", and "Choo-Choo".

Hailing from Trinidad, Surface was formed when talented singer Tony Prescott along with nine other members of the band Atlantik decided to form a new group. The end result is one of the Caribbean's most dynamic soca bands and one of the hottest CDs of 2001,
One of the most memorable tracks is Chutney Ragga Soca Party. The vocal interplay between Terry Seals and Nicole Greaves is superb and the lyrics are very entertaining. If you ever need something to lift your spirits, this one will do it. This is a track that you'll want to play over and over again.

Roger George
When we talk about high energy, vibrant, soft-spoken, breath taking, and polite you can put Rogers name in the same sentence. Roger has been singing for over 17 years.
Even as a young singer Roger displayed tremendous potential and talent, which manifested itself in the early coronations as "The Junior Calypso Monarch," in 1988, 1990 and 1991 , respectively.
This talent would not go unnoticed, with the departure of Chris "Tambu" Herbert, Roger was approached by the successful Charlies Roots band to take up a position as lead vocalist. This position would lead Roger to play an active role within the soca industry, backing up various artists without rehearsal and playing percussions with the band in addition to his role as lead vocalist.
Fastforward to 1994, Roger decides to spread his wings, taking up residence in California he worked with Trinidad base bands like, Upstream and Steel Pulse. His talents and exasperating voice took him to the San Francisco Carnival , to work with the band "Banyon," a branch off of Peter Minshalls "Odyssey". Upon the rquest of long time friend, and mentor, the legendary Carl Jacobs, 1995 Roger moves to Miami becoming lead singer of Jacobs'
band "Islander." While taking up residence in Miami, Roger goes on to release a string of songs. 1998 sees Roger returning to Sweet T&T with the release of his hit "Take it out" produced by Earl Crosby. Fastforward Carnival 2000, Roger has joined the band, XTATIK. He is pleased with what he sees and feels strong vibes about the members and management.
Roger has a long journey ahead of him, and is very excited and enthusiastic about the path that he has chosen to take. In 2001, Roger had a great year and with the absence of Machel, his presence on the stage as one of the major front line singers played a major part in the band moving forward with much success.
2002 would prove to be a very successful year for RG with the smash hit single, "Mo Luv" a feature song on Xtatik 2002 CD. Radios stations DJ's around New York, Boston, Miami, Canada and the Caribbean helped popularize this song. In December of 2001, Roger released "Break" featuring Machel Montano. The song was a monster hit for Carnival 2002, also featured on Xtatik 2002 CD. Roger also went on to hold the title of 2002 Pan Calypso Monarch, when he performed his smash hit song "Good News", which Exodus Steel Orchestra chose "Good News" as the song to beat for 2002 National Panorama Championships. After 2002 Carnival he became a featured front line member of Bryon Lee and the Dragonaires, Jamaica's number one soca band. This year Roger has succeeded in contiuning his momentum from 2002, being crowned Young Calypso King for 2003 with his inspirational composition "These are the days."
Roger's journey has started in the land of Soca in Trinidad and Tobago. His future is very bright and hopes that his voice will lead him around the world not only in the soca industry, but also in R & B, Jazz and Gospel music.

Rikki Jai is ah Trinidadian chutney-soca artiste born Samraj Jaimungal in Friendship Village, San Fernando.
The prince of soca chutney, his highness Rikki Jai. Samraj "Rikki" Jai is the most successful crossover entertainer in the world. He has won the Carib Soca Chutney Monarch competition too many times to count, and has been the first Indian performer to make his mark on the soca charts with many different hit tunes. Most recently, he's known for his super hit throughout the soca and chutney universe for his song, Mor Tor. Mor Tor was almost a road march contender for the 2004 carnival season and was so popular that superstar Machel Montano also teamed up with his highness to remix the song.
Rikki Jai is also known for his past super chart topers like Scorpion, Dulahin, de River Lime and the song he broke into the scene with, Sumintra. Rikki Jai is unlike all other artists as he was the first to brake down the barrier, and allow space for 'Indian" soca entertainers to be recognized on the same stage as all the other top artists, although to this day no one has been able to reach the level at which Rikki has achieved success. None the less, he's still and always will be the true Prince of Soca Chutney music.

Lord Kitchener was the calypso name of Trinidad native Aldwyn Roberts. Kitchener was also known as the Grandmaster of Calypso and the Road March King. Freewheeling and lighthearted, the singer and composer emoted his vitality through a vast repertoire of songs, largely in celebration of life in the Caribbean islands. After moving to Britain for some years following World War II, Kitchener perpetuated the everyday sentiments of life through his music and memorialized his experiences as a Caribbean native transplanted to England. Throughout his sojourn abroad, he continued to send his songs home to Trinidad, where his many fans received them eagerly as mementos from their idol. Upon his return to Trinidad in 1963, he received a hero's welcome and continued to inspire his fellow countrymen with the brusque tone and sometimes gruff wit that characterized his songs, more than 1,000 in all, most of them about the sights and sounds of his everyday life. Throughout his lifetime and even after his death in 2000 at age 77, Kitchener was highly esteemed by his fellow countrymen and by the calypso community worldwide.

Raymond Ramnarine - RUM -2008
Dil-E-Nadan Indian Orchestra is from Trinidad
Raymond Ramnarine - Leader, Arranger, Vocalist
Raymond is today regarded as our most electryfying stage performer. He continues to attract endless attention whenever he performs and is still regarded as our heartrob. The band has just returned from a tour of Holland and Raymond was as usual the pick of the artists amongst many all over the world. He is looking forward to the Father's Day Spectacular with a performance that will have patrons talking for weeks about the event.
