Mohammed Rafi (Hindi: मोहम्मद रफ़ी, Urdu: محمد رفیع; December 24, 1924 July 31, 1980), often addressed as Rafi Sahib, was an Indian playback singer whose career spanned four decades and is one of the most versatile male singers in the history of Indian cinema. Rafi sang in many Indian languages including Hindi, Urdu, Bhojpuri, Punjabi, Bengali, Marathi, Sindhi, Kannada and Telugu. He also recorded English and Persian songs. He is primarily remembered, however, for his Hindi songs, which still remain very popular in India today and also among the Indian diaspora. He dominated the Bollywood music industry from the 1950s to the 1970s along with Mukesh, Manna Dey, and Kishore Kumar.
Between 1950 and 1970, Rafi was one of the most sought after singers in Bollywood.
In 1965, he was honoured by the Government of India with the Padma Sri award.
On Thursday, July 31, 1980, Rafi died at 10:50 p.m., following a massive heart attack. His last song was "Shaam phir kyun udaas hai dost" (Aas Paas), which he had recorded with Laxmikant-Pyarelal couple of days before his death. He was survived by four sons (Saeed Rafi, Khalid Rafi, Hamid Rafi, Shahid Rafi), 3 daughters (Parveen, Nasreen, Yasmin) and 18 grandchildren. Naushad wrote on Rafi's Death- " Goonjte hai teri awaz ameero ke mahal me. jhopro ki gharibon me bhi hay tere saaz, yu to apne mousiki par sab ka fakr hota hai magar ay mere saathi mousiki ko bhi aaz tujh paar naaz hai "
Rafi's funeral procession was recorded on a very rainy day in Mumbai. A portion of that same recording has been used in one of the Hindi movie released later. It was one of the biggest funeral processions mumbai had ever witnessed, with over 10,000 people attending.
The Padma Shri Mohammed Rafi Chowk in the Bandra suburb of Mumbai is named after Rafi. Lata Mangeshkar quotes on Rafi- " saral man ke insan Rafisab, bahut suriley the, yea meri khus kismati hai ke maine unke saath sabse jada gana gaye. gana kaise bhi wo aise ga lete the ke gana na samajhne wale bhi bah bah kar utht te the. Aise gayak bar bar janam nahi lete."
A documentary about Rafis life is under production by The Films Division of India.
On September 22, 2007 a shrine to Rafi designed by artist Tasawar Bashir was unveiled in Birmingham. Bashir is hoping that Rafi will attain sainthood as a result.

LYRICS BELOW sameera reddy sohail khan MAINE DIL TUJHKO diya
--MALE--
Kal tak mujhe thi na khabar
Until yesterday I did not know
Kis cheez ko kehte hai pyaar
What thing they call love
Teri khushi ki khaatir ab
Now for the sake of your happiness
Khud ko badal doonga main yaar
I will change myself, friend
Maine dil tujhko diya
I have given my heart to you
Maine dil tujhko diya, iske siva kuch na kiya - 2
I have given my heart to you, aside from this I haven't done anything
Chaahe sab hi khuda, mujhko mile pyaar tera
God can love everyone, but I should get your love
Maine dil tujhko diya, iske siva kuch na kiya
I have given my heart to you, aside from this I haven't done anything
Mujhse khata ho to gayi, ab kya karoon yeh to bata
I have made a mistake, now what do I do, tell me this
--FEMALE--
Tumne sanam jo hai kiya, mili to hai uski saza
For what you have done, lover, you have received its punishment
--MALE--
Socha nahin, samjha nahin, chaaha nahin par ho gaya
I didn't think it, I didn't understand it, I didn't want it, but it happened
--FEMALE--
Socho zara, samjho zara, achchha nahin jo hai kiya
Think a little, understand a little, it's not good what you have done
--MALE--
Maine dil tujhko diya, iske siva kuch na kiya
I have given my heart to you, aside from this I haven't done anything
Maine dil tujhko diya
I have given my heart to you
Jab tu chale duniya chale, jab tu ruke duniya ruke
When you move the world moves, when you stop the world stops
Badle nazar mujhse jo tu, dhadkan meri rukne lage
When you turn your gaze away from me, my heartbeat begins to stop
--FEMALE--
Kya main kahoon kaisa hai tu, bas pyaar ka chehra hai tu
What can I say about how you are, you are the face of love
Mushkil to hai kehna magar kehti hoon main mera hai tu
It is hard to say but I am saying that you are mine
Maine dil tujhko diya, iske siva kuch na kiya
I have given my heart to you, aside from this I haven't done anything
Chaahe sab hi khuda, mujhko mile pyaar tera
God can love everyone, but I should get your love
--MALE--
O o o o o maine dil tujhko diya, iske siva kuch na kiya
I have given my heart to you, aside from this I haven't done anything
--BOTH--
Maine dil tujhko diya
I have given my heart to you

Asha Bhosle (Marathi: आशा भोंसले) (born September 8, 1933) is an Indian singer. She is best known as a Bollywood playback singer, although she has a much wider repertoire. Her career started in 1943 and has spanned over six decades. She has done playback singing for over 1000 Bollywood movies and sold many records. She is the sister of the equally accomplished Lata Mangeshkar.
Bhosle is considered one of the most versatile South Asian singers — her range of songs includes film music, pop, ghazals, bhajans, traditional Indian Classical music, folk songs, qawwalis, Rabindra Sangeets and Nazrul Geetis. She has sung in over 14 languages including Assamese, Hindi, Urdu, Telugu, Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati, Punjabi, Tamil, English, Russian, Czech, Nepali, Malay and Malayalam.
Bhosle is believed to have sung over 12,000 songs. Though her sister, Lata Mangeshkar was featured in the Guinness Book of World Records during 1974-1991, for having sung the most songs in the world, reputed sources have introduced concerns to its veracity, claiming that the Guinness counts were exaggerated and Bhosle had recorded more songs than Mangeshkar. Bhosle herself pointed out that she had made the most recordings by any singer - 12,000.
Asha Bhosle has won seven Filmfare Best Female Playback Awards out of 18 nominations. She won her first two awards in 1967 and 1968, when Lata Mangeshkar still used to accept the award (Mangeshkar asked not to be considered for the award nominations after 1969 to promote new talent). After receiving the award in 1979, Bhosle emulated her elder sister and requested that her name not be considered for the nominations hereafter. Despite this, Bhosle is the most frequent winner of this award to date, tying with Alka Yagnik. She was later given a Special Award for Rangeela in 1996, and the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 2001.
Asha has won the National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer twice:
* 1981: Dil Cheez Kya Hai (Umrao Jaan)
* 1986: Mera Kuch Samaan (Ijaazat)
Asha has won numerous other awards, some of which include:
