"Hum Hindustani" (Hindi: (हम हिन्दुस्तानी) is a 1960 Hindi movie produced by S Mukherjee and directed by Ram Mukherjee. The film stars Sunil Dutt, Joy Mukherjee, Asha Parekh, Prem Chopra, helen, Leela Chitnis and Sanjeev Kumar in his debut. The film is a remake of "Basu Parivar" (1952).

He was survived by four sons (Saeed Rafi, Khalid Rafi, Hamid Rafi, Shahid Rafi), 3 daughters (Parveen, Nasreen, Yasmin) and 18 grandchildren. Naushad wrote on Rafi's Death- " Goonjte hai teri awaz ameero ke mahal me. jhopro ki gharibon me bhi hay tere saaz, yu to apne mousiki par sab ka fakr hota hai magar ay mere saathi mousiki ko bhi aaz tujh paar naaz hai "
Rafi's funeral procession was recorded on a very rainy day in Mumbai. A portion of that same recording has been used in one of the Hindi movie released later. It was one of the biggest funeral processions mumbai had ever witnessed, with over 10,000 people attending.
The Padma Shri Mohammed Rafi Chowk in the Bandra suburb of Mumbai is named after Rafi. Lata Mangeshkar quotes on Rafi- " saral man ke insan Rafisab, bahut suriley the, yea meri khus kismati hai ke maine unke saath sabse jada gana gaye. gana kaise bhi wo aise ga lete the ke gana na samajhne wale bhi bah bah kar utht te the. A documentary about Rafis life is under production by The Films Division of India.
On September 22, 2007 a shrine to Rafi designed by artist Tasawar Bashir was unveiled in Birmingham. Bashir is hoping that Rafi will attain sainthood as a result.

Asha Bhosle (Marathi: आशा भोंसले) (born September 8, 1933) is an Indian singer. She is best known as a Bollywood playback singer, although she has a much wider repertoire. Her career started in 1943 and has spanned over six decades. She has done playback singing for over 1000 Bollywood movies and sold many records. She is the sister of the equally accomplished Lata Mangeshkar.
Asha Bhosle has won seven Filmfare Best Female Playback Awards out of 18 nominations. She won her first two awards in 1967 and 1968, when Lata Mangeshkar still used to accept the award (Mangeshkar asked not to be considered for the award nominations after 1969 to promote new talent). After receiving the award in 1979, Bhosle emulated her elder sister and requested that her name not be considered for the nominations hereafter. Sharda was a playback singer in Hindi films in the 1960s and 70s. She won the Filmfare best Female Playback Singer award for the cabaret "Baat zara hai aapas ki" in Jahan pyar Miley (1970).
Sharda belonged to a conservative Brahmin family from Tamil Nadu and was inclined towards music from childhood. She got her first big break in Bollywood with the song "Titli udi in Suraj" (1966). She was promoted by Shankar of the Shankar-Jaikishan duo.
"Titli udi" turned out to be a top chartbuster in 1966. Thereafter she continued singing for Shanker in nearly all his films while he was alive. Her voice was last heard in "Kaanch ki Deewar" (1987).
She sang with most of the top singers like Mohd Rafi, Asha Bhosle, Kishore Kumar, Yesudas, Mukesh and Suman Kalyanpur. She lent her voice to top leading ladies of the time like Vyjayanthimala, Saira Banu, Hema Malini, Sharmila Tagore, Mumtaz, Rajashree and even helen. She was the first Indian female singer to cut out her own pop album in India sometime in 1968. She also performed on stage on several occasions like Filmfare Awards Functions, charity shows, naval functions, and many others.
Sharda was somehow never able to reach the top bracket of singers and she blames some of the highly successful singers of the time to have deprived her of her chances by indulging in dirty politics. She also has the distinction of being a BA graduate, a qualification that Shankar tried his level best to highlight claiming that if the heroine is a college going girl, then only Sharda can sing for her as the other female singers of the time had not been to college. This remark was not well received by others and worked against Sharda. The critics also took digs at her highly South Indian accented pronunciations and nasal intonations which were very obvious. But in spite of all that she did manage to create a certain section of the music listeners as her fans and well wishers.
Shankar tried his level best to promote Sharda as the new generation Lata in the late 60s but somehow things did not really work out. Besides Shankar she also recorded songs with Usha khanna, Dattaram, Iqbal Qureshi and a few others.
he was nominated four times for the Filmfare Best Female Singer award and won it once. In the 1970s, she turned music director with films like "Mandir Masjid", "Maila Aanchal" and also penned lyrics for some songs specially for Shanker.
Sharda conducts music lessons for children and aspiring singers. On 21 July 2007 Sharda released her Ghazal Album "Andaaz-e-Bayan Aur" compiling Mirza Ghalib's Ghazals. The Album was released at Juhu Jagriti Mumbai at the hands of veteran Actress Shabana Azmi. Music Director Khayyam was also present at the event where Sharda thrilled the audiences by singing a few songs from the album in her well preserved voice.

"Pagla Kahin Ka" (1970) stars Shammi Kapoor, Asha Parekh, helen, and Prem Chopra. All four had earlier starred in the huge hit Teesri Manzil (1966). Famous director Shakti Samanta directed the film. Music is by Shankar Jaikishan.
The story is about a man Shammi Kapoor who loses his mind after his first love helen marries another man Prem Chopra. He goes to the mental hospital, where a psychiatrist Asha Parekh treats him and they both fall in love. Even though, helen does her usual cabaret dance number in this film, it still contains one of her most dramatic roles, as she plays a rape victim.
The film wasn't a box office hit. Leading lady Asha Parekh said audiences didn't want to see Shammi Kapoor play a madman. Nevertheless, the film remains one of her personal favorites, calling it a "beautiful film."
Director Shakti Samanta liked Asha Parekh's performance so much that he soon cast her again in Kati Patang (1970), which became a hit, and which won Asha Filmfare Best Actress Award..........

On Thursday, July 31, 1980, Rafi died at 10:50 p.m., following a massive heart attack. His last song was "Shaam phir kyun udaas hai dost" (Aas Paas), which he had recorded with Laxmikant-Pyarelal couple of days before his death. He was survived by four sons (Saeed Rafi, Khalid Rafi, Hamid Rafi, Shahid Rafi), 3 daughters (Parveen, Nasreen, Yasmin) and 18 grandchildren. Rafi's funeral procession was recorded on a very rainy day in Mumbai. A portion of that same recording has been used in one of the Hindi movie released later. It was one of the biggest funeral processions mumbai had ever witnessed, with over 10,000 people attending.
The Padma Shri Mohammed Rafi Chowk in the Bandra suburb of Mumbai is named after Rafi. Mohammed Rafi (Hindi: मोहम्मद रफ़ी, Urdu: محمد رفیع; December 24, 1924 July 31, 1980), often addressed as Rafi Sahib, was an Indian playback singer whose career spanned four decades and is one of the most versatile male singers in the history of Indian cinema. Rafi sang in many Indian languages including Hindi, Urdu, Bhojpuri, Punjabi, Bengali, Marathi, Sindhi, Kannada and Telugu. He also recorded English and Persian songs. He is primarily remembered, however, for his Hindi songs, which still remain very popular in India today and also among the Indian diaspora. He dominated the Bollywood music industry from the 1950s to the 1970s along with Mukesh, Manna Dey, and Kishore Kumar.
Between 1950 and 1970, Rafi was one of the most sought after singers in Bollywood.
In 1965, he was honoured by the Government of India with the Padma Sri award.
On Thursday, July 31, 1980, Rafi died at 10:50 p.m., following a massive heart attack. His last song was "Shaam phir kyun udaas hai dost" (Aas Paas), which he had recorded with Laxmikant-Pyarelal couple of days before his death. He was survived by four sons (Saeed Rafi, Khalid Rafi, Hamid Rafi, Shahid Rafi), 3 daughters (Parveen, Nasreen, Yasmin) and 18 grandchildren. Naushad wrote on Rafi's Death- " Goonjte hai teri awaz ameero ke mahal me. jhopro ki gharibon me bhi hay tere saaz, yu to apne mousiki par sab ka fakr hota hai magar ay mere saathi mousiki ko bhi aaz tujh paar naaz hai "
Rafi's funeral procession was recorded on a very rainy day in Mumbai. A portion of that same recording has been used in one of the Hindi movie released later. It was one of the biggest funeral processions mumbai had ever witnessed, with over 10,000 people attending.
The Padma Shri Mohammed Rafi Chowk in the Bandra suburb of Mumbai is named after Rafi.
